Healthcare Innovation Reboot Part II - If HDO Innovation is a Profession, What Should a Disciplined Innovation Lifecycle (“IL”) look like?

Original Published Date: August 4. 2022

Dr. Sachin Jain, CEO and President of SCAN Health Plan is a leader in innovation and making change, as well as the Sharp Index Awards Health Equity Award Winner. SCAN Health Plan tied bonus compensation to improving outcomes for minority groups. Dr. Jain sits down with Janae Sharp, CEO and Founder of The Sharp Index. They will lay the framework for our interactive roundtable discussion on innovation at Healthcare Delivery Organizations (HDOs). We will further explore innovation as a profession and discuss how to define an innovation lifecycle at HDOs. This follow-up session will dive deep into an existing innovation lifecycle ontology and conduct brainstorming and peer reviews of what could be turned into a set of documents and collateral we can use to build HDO innovation into a proper profession and establish a framework for a common set of values, steps, processes, and procedures that can be applied to the HDO Innovation space.

⚫ Know where your organization is in the innovation process.

⚫Know what the pain points are for your organization, and work on top concerns.

⚫ Find common ground with all parties and match incentives for all people involved.

⚫Identify your place in the problem solving process. Are you ready to implement a solution or do you need to work on defining the problem?

⚫The first step to leading change is to let go of getting credit.

How Has the Healthcare System We Want Changed?

  • COVID-19 has forced us to question what’s possible in healthcare delivery and to challenge our thinking. Patients and providers have offered overwhelmingly positive responses to these innovations, and we will take the best of what we learned during a hard time to continue to offer the best care possible at all times.

HealthIMPACT Live Winter Forum March 10th - 11th, 2021 by Purpose Events

There’s no question that we’re facing a paradigm shift in healthcare, only where changes will stick and how we will shape the future of healthcare. How patients, providers, and healthcare leaders approach healthcare as a whole has changed. Our expectations of what we want and expect from contact with the health system, what a “safe” distance, procedure, or interaction looks like, and how satisfied each participant is with an increasingly digital experience of healthcare are wildly different than they were a year ago. True transformation is always a result not just of the availability of new technologies, but also of the willingness of patients, providers, and health systems to adopt it, and insurers to pay for it. This sea change of expectations has the potential to be the most transformative aspect of our new world. However, both traditional and virtual healthcare come with a bunch of, for lack of better words, stupid stuff that slows down providers, costs money and hampers the patient experience. In this session hear leaders share their plans for what to keep and what to forget in the new healthcare:

⚫Create hybrid healthcare that’s truly best in class

⚫ Shift to virtual care, what to expect - viewpoints on the changing Business model

⚫Proactive measures to thrive in the post-COVID business environment

⚫ Continuous safe care throughout the pandemic versus interruption of non-emergent care

Looking Ahead:
A Comprehensive Digital Strategy for Healthcare in a Hybrid Care World

  • HealthIMPACT Live Spring Forum May 19th - 21st, 2021 by Purpose Events

COVID-19 has forced us to question what’s possible in healthcare delivery and to challenge our thinking. Our expectations of what we want and expect from contact with the health system, what a “safe” distance, procedure, or interaction looks like, and how satisfied each participant is with an increasingly digital experience of healthcare are wildly different than they were a few months ago. True transformation is always a result not just of the availability of new technologies, but also of the willingness of patients, providers, and health systems to adopt it, and insurers to pay for it. This sea change of expectations has the potential to be the most transformative aspect of our new world. However, both traditional and virtual healthcare come with a bunch of, for lack of better words, stupid stuff that slows down providers, costs money, and hampers the patient experience. Forward-thinking health systems have the opportunity to create and implement a new, hybrid strategy, keeping and strengthening the best parts of telehealth expansion, a virtual workforce, and increased remote care while bringing back the most valuable and effective elements from traditional, in-person care. This will require a critical look at new and existing technologies, an honest evaluation of the merits of new and legacy processes, and a willingness to think outside the box and if needed, build a new one. This discussion will focus on building an effective digital care strategy to meet the new challenges of 2021.

⚫ Viewpoints on the changing Business model

⚫Shift to virtual care, what to expect

    ⚫ Impact on organizational strategy

⚫ Proactive measures to thrive in the post-COVID business environment

⚫How are technology budgets allocated, and is the way things have always been the way they should be going forward?
