Making Healthcare Better for Everyone

February 9-10, 2022

A virtual event in partnership with Google

Our February event focused on workforce transformation, where a happy healthcare workforce means healthy patients, and transformational innovation for the future of healthcare.

In “CIO Perspectives - Accelerate Your Hybrid Workforce: Empowering Productive, Secure and Happy Hybrid Teams” addressed the risk and opportunity with the transition to a hybrid workplace. For burned-out and overloaded healthcare professionals, remote work can either be the last straw that makes them feel disconnected from their teams and purpose or a welcome way to better connect with patients and colleagues while improving work-life balance. Michael Ames (Senior Director, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Sada Systems), Katherine McNeill (Senior Director of Program Management for the Office of the CIO, Jefferson Health), Deb Muro, (CIO, El Camino Health) and Michelle Stansbury (VP of Information Technology, Houston Methodist) discussed how a hybrid workforce model can solve staffing shortages, improve employee retention, increase performance and productivity.

Angela Yochum (Novant Health) and Michael Ames (SADA) presented a keynote on “Sustainable Innovation that will Secure the Future of Your Organization.”

Many expert presented tools, visions, and solutions for inclusive healthcare. Peter Poullos, MD (Stanford Medicine Alliance for Disabled Inclusion and Equity) gave a keynote presentation on “A Vision for a Digitally Enabled Inclusive Healthcare System” about improving health inequities and improving care for patients with disabilities. In a panel entitled “Inclusive Innovation - Optimizing Digital Health for the Disabled and Neurodiverse” Jan Smith (T-Base Communications), Brooke Ellison, PhD (Stony Brook University), Valerie Mondelli (RevSpring) and Kimberly Noel, MD, MPH (23andMe) discussed the digital divide limiting access. In addition to the humanitarian necessity behind inclusive innovation, serving the needs of the disabled also makes sound financial sense; people with disabilities often have complex medical and healthcare access needs for which telehealth is particularly well-suited, especially in the management of chronic diseases.

Mauricio Angee, AVP, Chief Information Security Officer, University of Miami Medical Center
